How to turn on Developer Mode

On iOS 16 and later, apps installed outside the App Store only open with Developer Mode turned on. It is a regular switch and gives no access to your data.

Important: the switch appears only after the first attempt to install an app. If you do not see it, tap Install on any app first.

What to do

1. Open the section. Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll to the bottom → Developer Mode.
2. Turn on the switch. The iPhone offers to restart — tap Restart.
3. Confirm after restart. Tap Turn On in the “Turn on Developer Mode?” dialog and enter your passcode.
